Biggest Tech fails of 2018

Reader Discretion advised.

Fair warning. I am a huge tech lover. So when companies take their customers for a ride, it really pisses me off. I can understand if you try something new and it fails. That is acceptable. But if you mess up intentionally or unintentionally due to lack of care and quality control, you can f*ck right off. If you are easily offended by my opinions on Tech of all things - please do not read and wish you happy new year.

Youtube Rewind

OMG. Why? Why did Youtube have to do that? Sigh. I am not even going to start on this. I didn’t hate the video as much as many others out there. But I feel the PR video of a great community that prides it’s creativity and diversity could have been better.

Apple Airpower

OK. Companies need to stop doing this sh*t where they take existing tech and rebrand it with meaningless terminology. ‘Air’ power? Really? Does it like charge over air without any contact? If no, why the f*ck is it called ‘Air’power? I mean you call your awesome wireless earphones Airpods. It makes perfect sense, it is still the king of all wireless earphones. But how dare you call a random wireless charger with an Apple logo, ‘Air’Power? Call it ‘shamelessly expensive big-ass charger’. See? rolls right off the tongue.

To top it all out, they haven’t even released it? I mean what?

Apple Homepod and Google Home Max

Firstly, no I am not talking how much of these abominations they sold last year. I don’t care. Maybe people do buy this(but why?), I still don’t care. The problem I have with these bloody expensive smart speakers is that they are made with the sole purpose of emptying customer wallets. They are nothing but speakers with an integrated Siri or google assistant. Why? Anyway I wont be talking much about these as there is nothing much to talk about them anyway.

Also I don’t care that the home max came out in late 2017.

Every tablet except the iPad

Leave out the fact that anyone who isnt following tech would not even be able to name 3 other tablets other than the iPad. ‘

The pixel was a truckload of crap with laggy UI and terribly unimaginative design.

The surface is still incomplete and is yet to replace laptops as a true-blue mobile productivity device.

The samsung… I am not sure. For real, because I didn’t even check it. Samsung tablets(except the nexus 10) have aged horribly, so no point really.

And they are all expensive.

Guys, pull up your socks. How about we have a non-iOS tablet half as awesome as the iPad?

Red Hydrogen One

OK maybe I am being harsh, but this was a $1300 smartphone that was a total disappointment. The phone had decent build, OK software and proper internals. The phone was not bad overall. But the time it took to hit the market already dimming it’s impact.

But the major let down was the camera. With a huge promise of adding modular components in 2019, the camera slapped on the Red isn’t the best in the market - when that was the USP of the device prior to launch.

I ll just put a screenshot of the top YouTube searches for it’s review.

LG smart Watch 2018

Dumpster fire. This was a dumpster fire. If the ones above were at least attempts(or inability) to read the customer needs, this one was just plain bad. I mean look at it.

Which genius came up with this plan of using the background of an analog design for a display? I mean why is this even a thing?

It hurts more because I have always backed LG as a company that is not afraid of trying the odd design an, esp since they are still giving so much value in the smartphone zone. Oh well!
