Delhi Belly (English) – movie review

I have closely followed evolution of Aamir in the celluloid industry, and I must accept he is a real big asset to Indian cinema.

Delhi Belly, produced by his home banner Aamir Khan productions is an unapologetic, openly inspired and coyly knitted ride which I doubt would have been on any producer’s list. Blame it on the furious bad language, references to the loo, open portrayals of all dirty secrets… you wouldn’t know where to start.

The films tells us a tale of a Diamond smuggle/exchange that goes awry and just keeps getting better. Imran Khan and crew just come across as characters and end up giving you fabulous performances, you hardly realize that you are watching a movie. All the way through it is squarely laid on the shoulders of the actors, you doubt where they were all this time.

Fantastically executed as a crime comedy, the film treads on an over-confident screenplay with a completely uncensored and uncut approach to a bundle of confusions that keep getting better. The technical aspects are all top notch as you would expect from a movie of this genre. I wouldn’t let ANYBODY in without a warning, which is exactly what the crew has done.

Though loosely inspired and spirited by Guy Ritchie’s cult classics ‘Lock, Stock n two smoking barrels’ and ‘Snatch’, it makes you yell, it grosses you out, it makes your inners hurt and wonder. Made strictly for a select audience, Delhi Belly is the kind of movie that you show the international audience and tell them “This is ‘restricted’ Indian cinema at its best”

5 star effort for four star stuff. two thumbs up!!! Just don take your parents, or talk to them about this. This one is definitely not for the conservatives.
