Awwwww its good to be back 😀
been long since I tried to put down things that run through my mind. Well a lot was running through it when I ended up watching Orange, starring Ram charan Tej.
To me, a good movie is something that gives a divided opinion among the crowd. Lets face it, movies with mixed reviews have more often than not – made it big.
Orange speaks of a young man who lives his life, a second at a time. Swashbuckling and ever-excited, this guy looks at life a lot different from everyone else and takes a melancholic and less taken route every single time… until he is made to face his own past and all the decisions he made till then. The movie gives a totally different take on modern-day relationships, NRIs, cosmopolitan culture and …. of course, Love itself. Cleanly edited and cleverly laid out, this movie proves to be a nice quality entertainer. The peppy music, restless camera, fresh casting and neat dialogues make your day.
Ram charan returns to a relatively less larger-than-life role as Ram and plays it out with Elan. The lad is improving though his dance movements could have been more flexible and free style rather than rigid and stereotyped. Talking about stereotypes.. Genelia as ‘Janu’ is simply made to extend her ‘Hasini’ Avataar… a little more exaggerated and annoyingly though. The rest of the cast seems quite comfortable and Prakash Raj chips in with some kind of an extended cameo. Shazahn is a treat to watch and breezes in with a runaway performance. Brahmanandam as ‘Puppy’ is at his comic best and has you in splits with his regular antics.

The movie is not without faults. The movie seems too long when you are taken through the second half. Genelia’s role is terrible at the beginning and becomes ‘watchable’ towards the end. Ram seems a lot older than he actually is. Most of the fight scenes look similar and get boring everytime he starts hitting out at the goons. The sequences that lead to a huge furore at valentine’s day seems childish and unbelievable. Sudden changes in the characters of Ram and Janu let you confused. But the climax sets you back. I am left to wonder what would have happened without the music that Harris has provided for this.
Average or above average.. a different movie without useless dialogues, vulgar comedy and a neat narration should be welcomed.
3.5/5
