Yet another list of items worth their weight in gold during the lockdown

Still stuck at home? No problem, I got you covered. Here is another list to help you as well as satisfy your thirst for shopping. I encourage you to get these items from local stores that have been closed for a while or any reputed showroom where you can compare other brands. But if you want to order them online, You can find this full collection and more added to my Amazon list here: https://amzn.to/35uUuyP

Also, this is my second list. You can check out my first list here. Oh you lose nothing by checking that out. So do it!

1. Desks

At this stage, if you don't have a desk - I am not sure what you are saving for?

A zombie apocalypse?

Another demonetisation?

dowry for your daughter's marriage?

or worse... 2020?

Oh, spoke too soon. Get a desk. It is worth it. You can still sell it off once you start going to office or use it as a stool when you need to change a light bulb.

2. Bluetooth headsets

Earphones for long calls and headsets if that is your thing should be by your side now. If not, please get one. Earphones and others are fine if you want to make do. But how long are we going to pretend that you don't need something to take zoom and teams calls while doing dishes. Like aren't we all doing dishes now?

No?

Just me?

Crap. FML.

3. Mechanical keyboards

Well, the best tech investment I made in a while is the mechanical keyboard. Esp for those who type a lot and have a full desk-chair setup, these are god-sent. I thought they were overrated till I bit the bullet and got one. Now I can't imagine going back to regular membrane keyboards. They are worth it. Even if they are too loud.

4.Monitors

Once considered a luxury, cheap monitors are really good for those of us stuck working over 10 hours a day. This will go well with your existing setup without burning a hole in your pocket. This also a great investment if you are into other hobbies like blogging, photo editing and youtube. For bachelors, this will enhance your experience so much that you might even want to stop downloading movies illegally. Just kidding. No bachelor is ever getting amazon prime or Netflix.

5.Electronic spray cleaners

One of my biggest worries was cleaning my mobile, desktop, laptop and other soft electronics, especially on returning home after venturing out. This solution which is used by mobile shops is really cheap and comes in handy to quickly do a spray and wipe. This is much safer than using our normal disinfectant liquids and glass-cleaning sprays like Colin. Not for everyone, but hey I found it useful. Best if used with Microfiber cloths.

6. Tripods for Video calls

A Mini pod that stands on your desk is an awesome addition to your work-from-home list. In most cases, we do have web-cameras in our laptops. But if you do need to use your phone for any reason including a faulty webcam or your use of a desktop, these have you covered. Unless you really need a high-end tripod, get something that costs 300 or so, that should have you covered. Do not forget to check for ones that have a mobile-holder.

7. Mouse

Again, for your cavemen out there - Yes you can use a mouse. You can spend some money to get a mouse for your laptop. The 500 or 600 bucks that you spend on a mouse will not cost you your life someday. Treat yourself to a quality wireless Logitech or a wired HP mouse. I strongly recommend the M235 and HP300. I strongly do not recommend mice that cost around 2000 since they break easily and are really worth the price. I am talking about the Pebble, G402 and a host of other Chinese-made mice.

Either go low-end or super-high end.

8. Workout Bench

Another 'Yeah.. not for everyone' product. However, this to me has made the difference from working out for the sake of it and quite literally putting my back into it. With Gyms still opening up and fear all around, the home workout bench can save your dime in the long run. Considering how much gyms charge these days, this is a steal for fitness enthusiasts if you ask me. But ya, most of them are not for super-heavy weights.

9. Kid's wardrobe

Let me guess. You arrange your kid's clothes in a dump or in a space that you once thought was yours? Sad. Get a cheap, light weight kids wardrobe that you can move around and organise easily. This will help you with the million times you need to wash their urine-stained clothes.

10. Stool

Whether it your unsuccessful attempts to change the light bulbs or bath your child, you can fail with style with a nice strong stool that doesn't cave in and take away whatever remaining dignity you have.

But seriously though - This one helps you rest your feet or keep your soiled teacups for them to stay there for weeks, till your wife eventually picks them up.

11. Router for better speeds

If you broadband provider already has you covered, then great. But considering the turbulent time we live in, if he asks you to get one on your own - do the right thing and invest in a good router. The price you pay will be recovered in the speed you get. After all, if you aren't getting good speeds what is the point of going for better internet plans?

12. Rechargeable batteries

Yep. I did it. I finally got them. After years of contemplating this great expense of 600 rupees, I finally got a charger and rechargeable batteries. They are magic. You recharge them. I never knew such a concept existed.

13. Food Powders and spices (Cheese, Cocoa powder, Onion powder, Garlic powder, oregano, pizza herbs, chilli flakes)

Wondering when this dude turned into a chef? Son, you know nothing about me, do you? A variety of powders that can get your taste buds soaring are some of the best things you can ever buy this lockdown. By next lockdown, you... would probably lose all your cooking skills. But hey, at least this will help you cope with your cravings for now.

14. Mask and Arm sleeves

Weirdly enough, I have had them both for the past two years. I never thought that something I would wear to keep out pollution and skin dryness would help me step out with a lot more peace. This was handy for driving long distances in the dust, pre-corona. Now, for a quick errand, I just slip these on and move. Once back, I put them out to wash. Very handy if you don't want to shower every time you go out and walk back in.

Of course, as an additional layer, you can slip on a second cloth mask or an N95 mask over this one.
